Shannon Steffler is a permanent transplant to Idaho from New Hampshire. She met her husband Rob in 2001 at Weber State University in Ogden, UT. Her first time meeting his family in Blackfoot, ID was in preparation of and participation in rounding up cattle. She didn't know that people really did that! Long story short, she was saddle sore after that weekend, but fell in love with a farm boy! They married in 2003. She got to live in Jackson Hole, WY for almost a year and their first daughter was born in 2004. They soon moved to Rob's hometown of Blackfoot (out in the country). Their second daughter was born in 2006. In 2008 they moved to Idaho Falls and Shannon was in her glory! This is where she discovered La Leche League and the Mammas who introduced her to babywearing, healthy food ideas, and making homemade laundry soap. After Shannon's first water birth at home with daughter # 3 she bought a sling and a sweet friend gave her a homemade Mei Tai. She can't wait to learn more about babywearing and is going to make her own wrap for daughter # 4 who will be born sometime in May. Shannon's passion is educating families about the many choices available for childbirth that can lead to a safe and satisfying birth experience in any birth setting. She is an active participant in BirthNetwork of Idaho Falls, which began shortly after meeting those wonderful women from La Leche League. She day dreams about what to be when she "grows up" like a midwife or nurse, but really can't decide. She'd like to come up with something to do in the meantime that is super Mother/Baby-friendly and would bless the lives of others. Mothering little ones is her privilege and priority in the meantime. Having 4 kids will be quite the adventure, but she is so excited!
