Press Liason: Natalie Martin
A native of Rigby since the age of seven, Natalie C. Martin has loved the small-town atmosphere for raising children. She married Chris Martin at the end of 2003, than began her student teaching at the local middle school. She has a BS in secondary history and English education. Natalie sees teaching as her calling in life, though for now her calling has shifted from the classroom to teaching in many forms within her own home since the birth of her first child, Seth, in 2006. The Martin household further expanded when Eliza joined in 2008. Her husband Chris also discovered his calling in life when he joined the local police department shortly before his daughter’s birth. Natalie’s been found running through the sprinklers or ringing the bell on her cruiser bike as she rides around town. Natalie and Chris are constantly working on projects around their cottage house that was built in 1946. During all this, babywearing is a common occurrence in which the kids have participated on mommy or daddy’s back while raking leaves, making dinner, or going for family walks. While her husband in active in protecting and serving the community, Natalie is enthusiastically involved in various toddler activities such as Music Makers, organizing weekly playgroups or regularly attending the library, believing that continual learning is essential in a fulfilling life. She’s always open to new ideas and activities, which guided her to find out about babywearing and the benefits that have come from this activity. Since this discovery, Natalie and Chris have had many opportunities to try a variety of carriers from strips of cloth to structured buckles. The Martin’s have benefited from the connectivity babywearing has provided in many different forms of carriers (though Natalie tends to prefer wraps). They’ve found that convenience and the desire to hold their children do not need to be separated and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting other kindred spirits that also babywear.
