Instructor Jen Wadleigh


I am Jen Wadleigh, a babywearing instructor and doula in Calgary, Alberta. I have been babywearing for 10 years. I have three beautiful girls who are 9, 5 and 4. I began babywearing with the typical carriers available with my eldest child. I truly realized the freedom babywearing gave me the day I was trying to flag down a bus on the side of a highway while keeping both my 4yr old and newborn my safe. I haven't looked back since. Over the years I have used many different carriers, and found that really I love traditional carriers. While I enjoy using wraps selendangs, and kangas with my day home children, In the cold winters I am most often found wearing my beloved amauti. As my children are getting older and are worn less, I find myself drawn to teaching others to babywear, and to pass on what I have learned. For that reason, I began our local group, Babywearing Calgary. Within my doula work, I often use rebozos to help with labour and birthing, and am able to show my clients how to wear their children to promote bonding and breastfeeding.
