Instructor: Darien Wilson
Darien Wilson, babywearing guru, is mother to Zoe Love and Clark Holt. Zoe was born on February 14, 2000, during the Dark Ages of Babywearing. While struggling to tote Zoe in a sling that was as hot and homely as an old comforter, Darien had a vision of a sling that matched her style. She stitched up a stylin’ sling on her Memaw’s vintage Singer, and when she wore it around town, all her mama friends wanted one. Thus, ZoloWear was born in September 2001. Darien’s husband Joe, a software developer, designed the ZoloWear.com site. In May 2009, the Wilsons sold ZoloWear to Baby Holdings, Inc., and started a computer consulting business in Colorado. As a retired La Leche League Leader, Darien loves helping new parents through the challenging days of early parenthood. She feels a deep sense of satisfaction when new parents experience light bulb moments and parenting gets a little bit easier. Although Darien’s go-to carrier is the ring sling, she enjoys teaching parents to wear their babies comfortably and safely, in whatever carrier works best for them. Darien and Joe met at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She graduated cum laude with a B.F.A. in theatre. She studied costume design under Jamelle Flowers, who gave her the confidence to cut expensive fabric.
